When one of your works is sold on Artsper you must pack it and send it to the buyer (unless he has chosen to come and remove it in your gallery, in which case you will be notified).
Here are our tips for packing:
If the work can be rolled then we advise you first to affix a sheet of tissue paper and then roll everything and insert it into a cardboard tube. Be careful not to over-compress the work while driving, at the risk of damaging it.
If the artwork can not be rolled (canvas on canvas, framed photography, sculpture, etc.) please follow the steps below:
1) Pre-pack the work in tissue paper
-
Soft and protective, the tissue paper ensures a perfect finish to the packaging.
-
Very soft, it does not scratch fragile and delicate surfaces.
-
Valuing, the whiteness of the tissue paper highlights your work
2) Pack all in bubble wrap
Before inserting the work in a crate it is very important to protect it with bubble wrap to prevent it from getting damaged if it moves inside the crate during transport.
3) Protect the corners with foam
Corners are particularly sensitive areas during transport. It is therefore important to protect them by using "U" shaped foam wedges.
4) Insert the artwork into a crate
The packaging mentioned above is necessary but not sufficient. Carriers, specialized or not, often manipulate the works without much attention. It is therefore important to insert everything (artwork + tissue paper + bubble wrap + foam wedges) into a crate.
Favor the cardboard boxes of our partner Sofrapack: they are as solid as wood, much lighter and less expensive.
5) Fill the empty space of the crate with foam
If there is empty space in the crate then the work may move inside during transport and thus be damaged. It is therefore very important to fill this space with foam.
6) Close the crate, circle it and apply scotch with the "Fragile" print
When closing the crate make sure that it can not open during transport. For this, choose a strapping and then use tape with the print "Fragile" so that the carrier pays more attention.
